About Me
Associate Medical Director, Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospitalist Program, Memorial Healthcare System
I am an OB/GYN high-risk hospitalist at Memorial Healthcare System. I perform complex obstetrical surgeries on women to treat a variety of conditions and concerns. I also care for women with high-risk pregnancies including placenta accreta, a serious pregnancy condition where the placenta grows into the uterine wall and requires a complicated surgery.
I was always interested in a career in medicine. A part of this stemmed from the fact that I played a lot of sports while growing up and was often accident-prone. I found it comforting to have doctors to turn to who had the knowledge and skills to take care of me. In college, I worked full-time on an ambulance as an EMT and medic to explore the field. I loved caring for people but once we dropped them off at the hospital, we never got to see what happened to them. I realized I wanted to be in there caring for people but also be able to witness the outcomes from our care.
Now, as a physician, I take great pride in my relationships with my patients. I always take my time with everyone, ensuring I answer all of their questions and address their concerns. It’s a joy getting to know them and their families during our time together. Even when patients need me outside of the office, I’m always responsive, calling them back as soon as I can or responding to their messages. I want every single patient to feel confident and comfortable with our care.
Often, when new patients come to me, they are facing a complex pregnancy or condition. I make sure they understand what they are facing and how we will get through it. As a surgeon, I like the challenge of finding the problem, figuring out how to solve it, having the skills to fix it and then being able to follow up with them and see how the surgery has made their life better – all while keeping them and their baby safe.
In addition to caring for patients, I’m also the physician liaison for third-year medical students who rotate with our team. It’s a privilege to share my knowledge and expertise to help train additional doctors to be able to provide the skilled care our community needs.
